Take two much loved Radio 2 DJs - one who spends most of his time filling in for other people, another who sits around late at night. Put them together in a studio in Manchester at 8pm and what do you get? Well a programme with the catchy title of 'Mark Radcliffe and Stuart Maconie'.

A radio show with two people talking about the records in between. Is there anything really more to say? Other than the question of why put them together in the first place that is.

Well if you're worried, no it wasn't some management decision - indeed the suggestion came from the lads themselves. That said, often the show is presented by one man alone - Mark Radcliffe frequently deputises for Steve Wright, whilst Stuart Maconie is a frequent filler-in-erer for Chris Evans...

Originally broadcast four nights a week, the Thursday show was replaced by a live music show in April 2010.
